The Paediatric Audiology Team aims to provide an accessible, effective family friendly service to children and young people with hearing or communication concerns.

The specialist paediatric staff is able to provide comprehensive hearing assessment and management within the borough. It also monitors children and young people with transient or permanent hearing losses and advises on treatment options e.g. glue ear. There are specialist facilities in Edgware Community Hospital and East Finchley (Oak Lane Children's Health Centre) N2 8LT.

The lead consultant also sees children in the Nuffield Hearing and Speech Centre in The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital (near Kings Cross) for further specialised hearing and balance assessments as well as hearing aid fitting. The team works closely as part of a multidisciplinary team with other services: the Specialist Team, Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Services - Barnet PCT, Paediatricians, the Family Support Team, as well as Social Services, School Nurses, Health Visitors, GPs (general practitioners) and the Newborn Hearing Screening Team.
