Barnet Council is helping to promote the reduction of household waste by offering residents a subsidy to try real nappies. Real nappies are an easy-to-use practical alternative to disposables, are cheaper (the total cost of using Real nappies can be half that of disposables) and reduce rubbish going to landfill. Each child living in the London Borough of Barnet is entitled to a subsidy towards the cost of using Real Nappies. You may choose ONE of the following options:1) Purchase real nappies and wash them at home. Barnet Council offers a subsidy of up to£54.15 towards the purchase of the real nappies. A receipt for the purchase of the real nappies, a copy of the child's birth certificate and proof of residency (a recent utility bill, Council Tax paymentbook or bank statement) will be required. To get an application for the subsidy please contactBarnet Council's Waste and Sustainability Team on 020 8359 7352 or email recycling@barnet.gov.uk or visit www.barnet.gov.uk/real-nappies 2) Sign up for a Nappy Laundering Service. Number 1 for Nappies operates in the London Borough of Barnet toprovide a weekly nappy laundering service. They will provide the nappies, collect the soiled ones and replace them atyour door with a fresh supply, laundered to the highest standards, all for the cost similar to that of buyingdisposables. Barnet Council will provide a subsidy for you to obtain half price nappy laundering from Number 1 forNappies for twelve weeks. At the first visit you will be required to show the child's birth certificate and proof of residence (a recent utility bill, Council Tax payment book or bank statement).
