It is normal and natural for animals to make a noise. Animal noise such as dogs barking or cockerels crowing, can be become a problem if the noise is loud, persistent and during unreasonable hours.
Try and approach the owner of the animal and politely explain the noise problem. If you feel uncomfortable talking to the owner or if the noise is still disturbing you, report it to us.
Barking comes naturally to dogs, but the constant barking or whining of a dog can be very annoying. Often this problem occurs when the owner is out of the house and doesn’t realise this is happening.
Guidance for dog owners
In law, a barking dog can be a noise nuisance. You, as the owner, could be taken to court if you do nothing to stop the nuisance.
