Under the Freedom of Information Act (2000), I request the following information regarding planning/environmental/building control policies and bird strikes.
1) Whether the council has any policy or guidance in place concerning the issue of bird strikes against buildings in the borough, and if so the contents of said policy/guidance
2) Whether the council has ever conducted any form of assessment or analysis on the issue of bird deaths caused by building collisions in the borough, and if so the results of said assessment/analysis.
For the avoidance of doubt, my assumption is that this would be something dictated in planning guidance, which would therefore apply to all buildings, not just those owned by the council. However, if the council has a specific policy in place for its own buildings (offices, housing and other public buildings) I would be very interested to know.
Likewise, if an assessment has been carried out on all buildings in the borough or just those owned by the council (or both) I would be interested to know, and it would be much appreciated if the council could make any such distinction clear in its response.
