Barnet Winter Read - Reading Challenge for Adults 2026

We are excited to launch a brand-new reading challenge for adults - the Barnet Winter Read!

Open to all library members aged 16 and over, the challenge invites you to read two library books between 15 January and 28 February 2026. You can choose any titles you like – including eBooks and eAudiobooks available free through our Libby and BorrowBox apps.

Taking part is simple:

  1. Pick up a challenge card in any Barnet library from 15 January and register in staffed opening times
  2. Read your two chosen books
  3. Submit your completed registration card to your nearest library and you'll be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 retail voucher!
  4. Submit a book review and you could also win a £25 retail voucher.

Whether you're aiming to read more in the New Year, improve your literacy skills, or just enjoy great stories, this is a fantastic opportunity to challenge yourself and celebrate reading.
