Due to the temporary closure of Chipping Barnet library from Monday 8 December to Sunday 4 January, Select and Collect requests are unlikely to be ready to collect at the library until January.
We recommended that you select an alternative library when requesting an item from our catalogue.
Search our online catalogue to find items you would like to Select and Collect.
You will need your library card and PIN to log in to your account.
Forgotten your PIN? You can reset it online
If you have a library number starting H000 visit us to have your card upgraded to full membership before you log in.
Once you are logged in, you can request up to 15 items for free.
Request items that are not on our catalogue to Select and Collect
Email the library you wish to collect your item from with full details including:
- author
- title
- format; if you need hardback, paperback, CD, Large Print, audiobook, DVD
- edition; if you require a specific edition
- your library card number
- your name
We will try to get this for you. There is a charge for this service.

Collecting and returning your library items
When Select and Collect items will be available for collection
It will take some time before your selected items are ready for collection.
Items on loan to another customer will not be available until they are returned.
When and how to collect your Select and Collect items
We will contact you by email when your request is ready to collect.
Please check we have your correct email address in ‘My Account’ in our online catalogue to ensure you receive an email.
If you don’t have an email address you can pay for a postal notification.
We will keep your items for 2 weeks.
When you come to the library to collect your items you will need to bring your library card and borrow the items in our self-service kiosks before you take them home.
How to return your Select and Collect items
Items can be returned to any library. You can return items inside the library during our opening times.
Out of hours return bins are available at Chipping Barnet, Edgware, Finchley Church End, Golders Green and Hendon libraries.
You will need to return an item before you collect your request if you have 20 items on your card.
