The roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine across Barnet has reached its first milestone – as all residents of the borough’s care homes have now received the jab.

More than 65 per cent of the general population over 80 years of age and a large proportion of people over 70 have also been vaccinated in the borough.

The top four priority groups in the vaccine roll-out are:

  1. Residents and staff in elderly care homes.
  2. All those aged 80+ and frontline health and social care workers.
  3. All those aged 75+.
  4. All those aged 70+, and clinically extremely vulnerable people (not including pregnant women and those under 16).

It is expected that all Barnet residents in these groups will have received their first vaccinations by mid-February. Vaccines are now being delivered by the NHS in GP hubs, pharmacies, hospitals, and to those who are housebound via roving teams.

Different hubs may be at slightly different stages of vaccinating their priority groups, but you will be contacted if you are in one of these groups. Please don’t contact the NHS to seek a vaccine; they will contact you. When you are contacted, please attend your booked appointments, and continue to follow all the guidance to control the virus, protect the NHS and save lives.
