Leader’s message – CST’s annual Antisemitic Incidents Report

Published:

Councilor Dan Thomas, Leader of Barnet Council, said: “CST’s Antisemitic Incidents Report is always a sombre but important read. Unfortunately, once again Barnet had more antisemitic incidents than any other borough, which reflects the size of our Jewish population - the largest in the country.

I was particularly sad to read of antisemitic graffiti on a children’s playground in the borough, though I am heartened to see that incidents in the borough overall dropped by a quarter compared to last year.

“Barnet Council will continue to fight antisemitism in all its forms, and I am proud that we were the first local authority in the country to recognise the IHRA definition of antisemitism in 2017, which we reiterated in Council last year. We will continue to work with CST and our whole Jewish community to combat antisemitism – protecting and supporting residents, businesses and places of worship across Barnet.”
