The Mayor of Barnet, Cllr Danny Rich, has called for unity from Barnet’s communities in response to the arson attack on Hatzola’s ambulance service in Golders Green. The Mayor said:
"The deliberate burning of Hatzola ambulances in Golders Green is a deeply troubling act of antisemitic violence. These vehicles are a lifeline staffed by volunteers who give their time to care for others at their most vulnerable moments. To target them is to strike at something far more valuable than property.
“Hatzola’s volunteers embody a deeply Jewish commitment to show up for others in moments of need, regardless of who they are.
“This was an attack on the Jewish community but it is an affront to all Barnet residents. We will show those who seek to divide us our deep resolve, vowing never to be cowed by such cowardly acts. As we deal with the aftermath, all communities must stand together in opposition to hate.
“I would like to thank Barnet Council staff, the London Fire Brigade, the Metropolitan Police, Community Security Trust, Shomrim and many others who have responded so quickly. The healing process will take time but working as a team, we will overcome this criminal act.”
