National School Sport Week at Home: Ensure no child misses out

Published:

We’re taking part in National School Sport Week at Home (20 – 26 June) to celebrate the power of sport in bringing people together, even during isolation, and to highlight the importance of Physical Education in enhancing young people's wellbeing.

The campaign is hosted by Youth Sport Trust who have teamed up with Sky Sports to support Youth Sport’s Trust’s #StayHomeStayActive campaign which has been supporting schools, parents and young people with daily free resources to get young people moving and enjoying the PE curriculum while at home.

We’re challenging you to take on your families, friends and neighbours in virtual sporting challenges – to help you connect in an unprecedented period of school closures and social distancing. We’ll be sharing activity cards on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram which has links to videos with challenges for you to complete with your children as well virtually compete friends, neighbours and family outside your home. The active challenges will have an emphasis on togetherness, inclusivity and wellbeing and we encourage you to share photos and videos of you taking part in the challenges using the hashtag #NSSWtogether

Youth Sport Trust Chief Executive Ali Oliver said:

“Right now, young people are missing their friends and missing the sense of connection they get through sport. Sport has such a crucial role to play in promoting young people’s wellbeing and this has never been more apparent than it is now. After weeks of isolation we hope that YST National School Sport Week at Home 2020 can help bring families, communities, schools and sports clubs back together.”
