A three-month consultation has been launched by Barnet Council to seek residents’ feedback on strategies to improve housing and tackle homelessness across the borough over the next five years.

Visit engage.barnet.gov.uk to fill in questionnaires and leave a comment about the plans at any point between now and Monday 4 February. If you would prefer a hard copy of the survey in the post, please email Joshua.Henry@Barnet.gov.uk or call 020 8359 7043.

Councillor Rozenberg said: “I am passionate about defending the rights of our renters and increasing the standard of housing in our private rented sector. I know that this is important for our residents, and I want to make sure that all our families can have a decent home to live in. Everyone deserves to have a roof over their heads, and we will do our best through these strategies to put an end to homelessness in our borough.”

A public event, to hear from those renting in Barnet about how to improve their experience, will be held from 6.30-8.30pm on Wednesday 21 November in Colindale Library, 7 Bristol Avenue, London, NW9 4BR. Residents are encouraged to attend and put their views directly to Councillor Gabriel Rozenberg, Chairman of the Housing Committee, and Councillor Shimon Ryde, Vice-Chairman of the committee. Register to attend at: barnethousing.eventbrite.co.uk

The Housing Strategy main themes are to improve standards in privately rented housing, deliver more affordable homes, promote independence, tackle homelessness, and ensure housing is safe and secure.

The Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy main themes include preventing homelessness, finding accommodation for those at risk of it, helping rough sleepers, and reducing the need for temporary accommodation.
