The Virgin Money London Mini Marathon will grace the streets of London on Sunday 24 April 2016 and young people from Barnet have a chance to be a part of the action.

24 young people from the Barnet will have the opportunity to represent the borough at this iconic event.

Due to limited spaces, open trials will be held at Oak Hill Parkrun on Saturday 20 February at 9am. For more information on the open trial, age categories and how to register please visit the council's website, or call 0203 675 7244. Trial registration closes on Wednesday 17 February.

The Virgin Money Mini London Marathon provides young people aged 11 to 17 the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Olympic great Mo Farah, running 3 miles past some of London’s most famous landmarks including the London Eye and finishing the last stretch of the race on The Mall.

Barnet’s representation at the event is being coordinated through a partnership between London Borough of Barnet Council, Saracens Sports Foundation and Oak Hill Parkrun.

Councillor Helena Hart, Chairman of the Health and Wellbeing Board, said:  “This is a great opportunity for young long distance running enthusiasts. I am so pleased that we have been able to  play our part in encouraging our young residents to take up this extremely healthy and enjoyable form of physical exercise - and who knows, Barnet may produce the next star for this Country.”
