Weather warning as Storm Dennis approaches

The Met Office is forecasting that Storm Dennis will bring heavy wind and rain during the next 48 hours, posing a flood risk and disrupting some council services.

We are likely to see localised surface water flooding with the potential for flooding from rivers.

We urge residents to remain vigilant and take steps to protect themselves from the risk of flooding:

  • Call Floodline on 0345 988 1188 for up-to-date flooding information
  • Sign up for flood warnings at www.gov.uk/sign-up-for-flood-warnings or by calling Floodline on 0345 988 1188 or Typetalk 0345 602 6340.
  • Visit the Environment Agency website www.gov.uk/environment-agency which contains details of river level and flooding information
  • Follow @EnvAgencySE on Twitter for updates
  • Please report any flooding in your area to Floodline on 0345 988 1188.

If you see any fallen trees, please report them to us.

Parks will be unlocked on Saturday morning and will remain unlocked until after the weekend. Cherry Tree Wood in East Finchley will be locked Friday night and will remain locked until after the weekend.

Public toilets in the following parks will be locked from Friday night until after the weekend:

  • Lyttelton Playing Fields, Hampstead Garden Suburb
  • Friary Park, Friern Barnet
  • Victoria Park, Finchley Central.
