Report a lost, stolen or damaged parking permit
Lost or stolen parking permits
If we have issued you with a specific vehicle registration number or an any vehicle registration paper parking permit and it has been lost or stolen, you will need to:
- Report it us right away (confirming the permit reference number)
- Report it to the police (if stolen) right away and contact us and provide a crime reference number
Once reported, the permit will be cancelled on the system. This will invalidate the permit to prevent any potential fraudulent use.
Damaged parking permits
If we have issued you with a specific vehicle registration number or an any vehicle registration paper parking permit and it has been damaged, you will need to:
Return the permit to the Council at the address below (confirming in writing that the permit is being returned as it has been damaged).
It would be helpful if you could provide a contact number or email address in case we need to contact you.

Once returned, the permit will be cancelled on the system. This will invalidate the permit to prevent any potential fraudulent use.
It is advised that the permit is sent via recorded delivery. This way you will receive a tracking reference number and therefore will be able to check if the permit has been received and signed for by the Council here Track your Item | Royal Mail Group Ltd
What happens next
Upon being satisfied as to such loss or damage, the Council will issue a replacement parking permit which will have a new parking permit reference number.
The replacement permit will display the same expiry date as the previous permit with the exception of the carers and dedicated disabled bay permits. This is because we no longer issue permits for 36 months and only 12 month permits. As such, the expiry or start date may vary.
More information will be provided by the permit team at the point of contact.
