Improvements and investment in your parks and open spaces

The Council’s long-term vision is to ensure the Barnet’s parks are fit for the future through the development of key sites across the Borough.

Masterplan proposals are being drawn up outlining the delivery of ambitious improvements, including sports hubs and supporting facilities. This investment aims to provide improved fitness and play, support nature conservation and biodiversity, and increase connections between parks and their surroundings.

These proposals are at various stages, and the Council will be looking to gather input from the public with regards plans for these sites in due course.

So far we have: refurbished the young children’s play area by the café, refurbished and increased the older children’s play area near the Long Lane entrance, installed new litter bins, refurbished benches, installed new benches, refurbished the tennis courts and created a multi-use games area.

Childs Hill Park

Following development in the area £230,000 has been identified for park improvements. We have been working with the Friends of Childs Hill Park to develop plans.

Work will commence Feb 2021 to convert the old bowling green into a Picnic Grove and to clear and replant the Nant Road Bed.

The Picnic Grove is planned to open in the summer of 2021 once the new planting is established.
