We are providing a dedicated Chometz collection service to the Jewish community. Collection arrangements are different from last year.

This additional refuse service will be in operation at houses on over 300 pre-designated roads, making it simple for residents to dispose of Chometz before Passover.

Check if you live on a pre-designated road and then follow the relevant guidance below.

Whilst we aim to deliver these collection arrangements, please keep up to date on any possible changes by checking this page.

Pre designated roads

The following information will apply to you if you live on a pre-designated road and your normal refuse collection day is:

  • Tuesday 16 April
  • Wednesday 17 April
  • Thursday 18 April  
  • Friday 19 April

Your refuse bin collection will take place on your scheduled collection day from 6am.

You will have an additional collection on Sunday 21 April where a maximum of three sacks of Pesach waste per household will be collected. We will only collect your refuse sacks on this day, we will not be emptying your bin.

Collections will take place from 8am from the boundary of your property.

Non designated roads

If you do not live on a pre-designated road or your refuse collection day is a Monday, you can request a pre-bookable collection of a maximum of three refuse sacks to take place on Monday 22 April.

Request a collection by emailing pesach@barnet.gov.uk or calling 020 8359 4600. Bookings close at 4pm on Thursday 18 April.

If your collection day is not Monday, we will only collect your refuse sacks on this day, we will not be emptying your bin. Place your sacks at the boundary of your property by 6am.

Your normal bin collection will take place on your scheduled collection day.

Managing your Chometz

  • Your normal refuse bin collection will take place on your scheduled collection day
  • Chometz that is not presented as set out above will not be collected
  • Please do not overfill refuse bins or sacks, as it may not be possible to collect these containers
  • Make full use of your recycling collections where possible
  • Please put food waste in your black refuse bin or sacks or consider donating any Chometz that is unopened to a local food charity. Food waste cannot go in the green garden waste bin or blue recycling bin.

Sack drop off points

There will also be six Barnet waste collection vehicles at fixed locations, where you can bring up to three refuse sacks for disposal between 10am and 1pm on Monday 22 April:

  • NW11 The Ridgeway near junction with Gresham Gardens
  • NW11 Golders Green Road near no. 208 Golders Green Road
  • NW11 Decoy Avenue near junction with Bridge Lane
  • NW4 Green Lane near junction with Brent Street
  • NW4 Ashley Lane near junction with Parson Street
  • HA8 Broadfields Avenue near junction with The Drive
