Hendon Central (Hendon NW4)

The road running through Hendon Central, roughly in line with the Watford Way, was called Butchers Lane. Where St John's School now stands was Paddock Farm and further up, near the top of Station Road, was Burroughs Farm. The Handmaids of Christ established the Convent of St Joseph in Burroughs House in 1882. They had a school by 1900, now St Joseph's Primary School. Butchers Lane became Queens Road after Queen Victoria's jubilee (1887).

Doctors' parking permits

Doctor permits are only issued once permission has been granted to install a Doctor's bay. These permits are only valid for the bay indicated on the permit. Hendon

There was a Roman settlement in Hendon, and the Edgware Road originally formed part of the Roman road later called Watling Street. Hendon is a Saxon name meaning high hill (c1005). The manor is in the Domesday Book and included Mill Hill.

Environmental permits

If your business can cause air pollution (smoke, dust or solvent fumes) or affect the environment (water or land contamination) then you need an Environmental Permit.  This is a requirement of the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2012.  The permit will put strict limits on the pollution your business can make, both at your premises or from any mobile plant.  Pollution prevention methods will be required.

Exclusion of pupils

Reasons for a pupil being excluded from school A pupil may be excluded if the headteacher of the school feels it's necessary to discipline the pupil for his or her behaviour in school. This may be for a serious one-off incident or a series of incidents. In making the decision to exclude, head teachers will look at all the evidence available to them at the time and make their decisions based on the ‘balance of probabilities’.
