To become a champion, all residents need to do is report hate crime when they encounter it. The best place to do it is through the True Vision website at www.report-it.org.uk – which is accessible from any computer or mobile device. Residents can also go directly to the police by phoning 101, or 999 in the case of an emergency.

This type of crime is never acceptable and to ensure this message is understood, Barnet Council is reminding residents of the options available to them this Hate Crime Awareness Week (14-21 October).

As part of National Hate Crime Awareness Week, Barnet Council launched its new Hate Crime Reporting Centres. These are based within the community so that victims of hate crime who are apprehensive about reporting to the police, can have an alternative way of reporting to a local trusted community organisation. Barnet Hate Crime Awareness Week (12-16 October): Programme of events

The Metropolitan Police will be available to speak to members of the public about identifying hate crime, and the ways in which it can be reported to the police. You can find them at our hate crime reporting information stand at Golders Green Bus Station, Station Road, Edgware HA8 7BD, from 9am-12.30pm on Friday 16 October. The police also visited Edgware Bus Station on Monday to raise awareness at a separate hate crime reporting information stand.
