We want to keep our green spaces clean and safe and within the borough, we know there are issues with littering, fly tipping, vandalism such as graffiti, and unsafe BBQs or fires in our green spaces.

We have adopted the ethos of Advise, Mediate and Enforce. We deliver a parks patrol service through our contractor Parkguard to identify and get involved if someone commits anti-social behaviour in our parks and green spaces.

The behaviours the service will seek to achieve are to:

  • reduce anti-social behaviour in our parks
  • secure best evidence of anti-social behaviour by way of body worn camera footage, statement of witnesses and anti-social behaviour incident reports in our parks
  • monitor and intervene where a Public Spaces Protection Order is in force
  • report any crime incidents to the police using the 999 or 101

Our officers use body worn video cameras and dashcams for some of the work when on patrol. This is used for securing evidence and officer safety.

We also use your information to help us understand how our service is being used, which in turn allows us to better distribute our money and resources. If we share or publish the environmental enforcement statistics that we gather, we never identify you personally in the report. For example, we may publish anti-social behaviour reporting incident numbers, locations and outcomes such as any enforcement notices issued and their type.

Safeguarding

Where there is a risk to the health, safety and well-being of an individual we will process personal data for safeguarding purposes. We work in the best interest of the individual, following laws that give us our safeguarding responsibilities. We may report incidents to the police or our safeguarding teams. We share information with our Family Services department to help them carry out their responsibility to safeguard children in need or at risk.

We will share data with other council departments where necessary, as well as our housing partner, The Barnet Group, and partners including; the emergency services, health agencies and other local authorities. We will respond to a request for information from the police regarding an individual they have in custody.

How long we keep your information

We retain your information for 10 years after case closure.

Body worn footage is kept for 30 days (unused footage) and for 10 years where footage forms part of a case investigated by the CST.
