Registering to vote

You only need to register once – you do not need to register separately for every election, but you must register again if you’ve changed address, name or nationality.

If you aren't sure whether you are registered to vote and on the electoral register please email ero@barnet.gov.uk or phone 020 8359 5577

You can register to vote online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote , it usually takes about five minutes and you’ll need the following information:

  • your National Insurance number
  • your passport if you’re a British citizen living abroad, and want to vote in England, Scotland or Wales

Don’t forget you can also apply to vote by post at any time. Voting by post is an easy and convenient way of voting if you are unable to get to the polling station.  To apply to vote by post, visit www.yourvotematters.co.uk/voting-by-post
