Having access to good information and advice can be an important tool in helping you to make informed choices, knowing what services are available to support you and to help you to maintain your own health and wellbeing.

Information and advice that may support you in your caring role including information on carers assessment and other practical support and services that may be helpful to you.

Barnet Citizens Advice Bureau

Barnet Citizens Advice Bureau will provide you with information and advice regarding welfare benefits and income maximisation.

Support is available online or phone. You can book an appointment go to a drop in sessions.

Dementia Advisor Service

Information and advice, including signposting to local services, such as care or support services.

Support is available in various locations throughout the borough. For further details contact Alzheimer’s Society Barnet, Monday to Friday between 9.00am- 5.00pm.

Carers Direct

National website and helpline for carers providing advice and information on caring.

Calls are free from landlines and mobiles within the UK. The helpline is open from 9.00am to 8.00pm Monday to Friday, and from 11.00am to 4.00pm, at weekends. The helpline is closed on bank holidays. Information and advice can also be found via the website.

Inclusion Barnet

Inclusion Barnet brings together community organisations, service users and carers to offer services that are based on the social model of disability and is aimed at promoting independence, social inclusion and equality. It aims to remove barriers, enabling all of its clients to live as independently as possible with the necessary support. 

POhWER

POhWER is a service provider for all types of statutory advocacy services in Barnet, form 1st April 2023. All of their services are free, confidential, and independent from the government, local councils and the NHS.

 

As part of the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Advocacy Service, POhWER provide:

  • Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy (IMCA) including Deprivation of liberty Safeguards (DoLS), and Relevant Person’s Paid Representative (RPPR)
  • Independent Mental Health Advocacy (IMHA)
  • Care Act Advocacy
  • Independent Health Complaints Advocacy (IHCA)

 

In Barnet, POhWER also provide Independent Community Advocacy.
