Making changes to the original registration certificate

Once a registration has been completed it becomes a legal document. To make a change on your certificate you must show evidence a mistake was made at the time of registration.

Fees to make a correction on your certificate:

• referred to the General Register Office - £90 plus the price of new certificates
• Barnet Register Office corrections - £75 plus the price of new certificates

Changing or adding forenames (first name)

If you need to change the forename on your child's certificate you will need to fill out a Space 17/Certificate of naming form and make a payment of £40, plus the price of new certificates. This can only be done within 12 months from the date registration
