What is SEND and the Local Offer
What is SEND
A special educational need or disability (SEND) can affect a child's ability to learn.
It can affect their:
- behaviour or ability to socialise. For example, they struggle to make friends
- reading and writing. For example, because they have dyslexia
- ability to understand things
- concentration levels
- physical ability
Who you can talk to
If you think your child may have SEN, contact the SEN co-ordinator (SENCo) in your child’s school or nursery.
Our SEND Information, Advice and Support Service can provide help and support.
Support your child can receive
Your child's school should be able to provide SEN support.
If your child has more complex needs, they may need an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan.
