The adult bedbug is a reddish brown colour, has a flat oval body and is 5mm long by about 3mm broad.
They feed at night on blood by biting exposed human and mammal skin, causing itchy red bumps on the skin. During the day they hide in cracks and crevices in and around beds. Bed bugs can be transported in luggage, clothing and furniture and can quickly spread.
Treatment of bedbugs
Preparations before treatment
If you decide to have treatment for bedbugs, you will be given instructions on preparing your home to get it ready for spraying. You must do this or we won’t be able to treat your home.
Preparation can include removing all items from rooms, dismantling infected furniture, vacuuming, mopping floors, washing infected clothing and bed linen. You don’t need to remove furniture, beds or mattresses.
All pets and people living in the property must stay out of treated areas for up to 5 to 6 hours while the insecticide dries.
What we will do during the treatment
All the bedroom walls, floors, ceilings, inside cupboards and drawers are treated with spray and mist insecticides.
After bedbug treatment
Don’t enter the sprayed rooms for at least 5 to 6 hours or vacuum the rooms for 21 days after treatment. It is normal to see bedbugs a few days after treatment
We will give you a report of the work we have done with guidance and advice on what you need to do after the treatment.
