Freedom of Information Request

Dog theft in the London borough of Barnet

Received: 21 December 2020

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information from you.

Please may you provide me with the information you hold on the theft of dogs and puppies from the London Borough of Barnet during the period 1st January 2019 to 1st December 2020.

I am expecting that the majority of the information you hold will come from the council 'dog warden' service used to report missing or stolen dogs.

Please provide the information in the form of the number of reported thefts of dogs and puppies. I would also like a breakdown of the dogs stolen by breed if this is possible. Finally, could you also provide details on the outcome of the reported theft, e.g. if the dog was found and returned to its owner, if it was found, returned to its owner and the suspect was charged, still under active investigation, never found and case closed etc.

If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please provide advice and assistance, under the Section 16 obligations of the Act, as to how I can refine my request.

If you can identify any ways that my request could be refined I would be grateful for any further advice and assistance.

If you have any queries please don't hesitate to contact me via email or phone and I will be very happy to clarify what I am asking for and discuss the request, my details are outlined below.

May I also ask that you send an acknowledgement of receipt of this email for my own personal records.
