The council will be starting the new chargeable garden waste service from Saturday 9 May. This follows the decision earlier this month to defer the start due to the impact of COVID-19.

The council has already contacted subscribers directly to confirm their first fortnightly collection day which will either be Saturday 9 May or Saturday 16 May. Subscribers can also check when their collection day online.
Councillor Dean Cohen, Chairman of the Barnet Council Environment Committee, said: “We are pleased that we can now introduce the service knowing we have staffing levels to do this as well as maintaining weekly refuse and recycling collections. Thank you to our customers for their patience and understanding.
"I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our staff for their continued commitment and hard work in keeping these vital services going.”
Those customers who have received their garden waste sticker issued by the council should ensure it is applied to the centre of the lid of their green garden waste bin before their first fortnightly collection.
Residents can still sign up and pay for the service at www.barnet.gov.uk/gardenwaste.
