Give the gift of a Civic Award this Christmas

Published:

This Christmas Barnet Council is inviting people to say thank you to those individuals and groups who have gone the extra mile for our borough this year.

All it takes is a short visit to barnet.gov.uk/civic-awards where you put them forward for a Civic Award. You can also nominate someone by emailing mayor@barnet.gov.uk or phoning the Mayor’s Office on 020 8359 2179. The only rule is that nominees must live or work in the Barnet borough.

This year we are accepting nominations in the following categories:

  • Young citizen of the year
  • Outstanding service to the community
  • Lifetime achievement civic award

Each nomination will be reviewed by a judging panel and winners will be invited to attend a ceremony at the Town Hall in April 2019 to receive their award.

The Worshipful Mayor of Barnet, Councillor Reuben Thompstone, said: “Christmas can be such a hectic time of year. It’s a time for gift giving and showing appreciation to those that we love and those special people that make our world such a wonderful place. Why not give the gift of a Barnet Civic Award nomination this Christmas?

“These awards recognise hard work, dedication, personal achievement and community-mindedness. Our borough is home to countless people who regularly do wonderful things for the community – be it as a carer, volunteer, businessperson or sportsperson. They do it out of the goodness of their hearts, and it’s great that we can give something back to them. Help us to say thank you by nominating them now.”
