We want your feedback

Residents are being asked to give their views on future priorities in Barnet over the next five years.

Barnet Council has launched a consultation on its 2019-2024 corporate plan, which will run until Sunday 23 September. The consultation is open to all Barnet residents, businesses, and community interest groups. Residents can take part in the Barnet 2024 consultation by completing an online questionnaire at Engage Barnet

The Leader of Barnet Council, Councillor Richard Cornelius, said: “We have a lot to be proud of in Barnet. The borough has some of the best schools in the country, more than 200 parks and open spaces, and a range of diverse and friendly communities. As we plan for the future we want your feedback on what is most important to you over the next five years.”

Barnet Council will have to save £62m during the next five years – on top of the £155m the council has already saved since 2010. This means the council will have to make some tough decisions about its priorities and how to spend its limited funds.

This could mean some services are provided in a very different way, while others are used to help the council generate income to fund ongoing costs.

The council has set out three outcomes it would like to focus on achieving in 2019-2024. These are to: protect and invest in a pleasant, well-maintained borough; maintain safe and strong communities where people get along well, and; help residents live happy, healthy, independent lives with the most vulnerable protected.

Priorities have been set out to help the council achieve these outcomes. These include integrating health and social care services, supporting local business and improving roads, pavements and transport connections.

There will be three Engage Barnet events, where the Leader of Barnet Council will talk about the council’s plans and invite the public to give their feedback.  The events will be held from 7-9pm on Tuesday 4 September, Tuesday 11 September and Wednesday 12 September. Residents can book their place at one of these events now by visiting Engage Barnet
