Our commitment to improving residents experience with council services

During the pandemic we saw a rise in residents wanting to access more services online with 70% of residents choosing to use online tools to resolve their queries rather than call. This resulted in council services having to consider how we can support all residents better remotely and inclusively.

The Resilient Schools Programme funded by Barnet Public Health is proud to showcase a Youth Realities and Pink Productions film ‘Generation Verified’. From identity to pressure for perfection, popularity, and the desire for likes, this is a short film explores young people’s experiences of the online world and how they cope with the unique generational challenges that they face.

London’s Deputy Mayor visits Barnet Council for groundbreaking pilot scheme to tackle domestic abuse

London’s Deputy Mayor Sophie Linden visited Barnet Council’s offices for an update on the council’s pioneering pilot scheme to tackle domestic abuse in the borough, along with its partners at the neighbouring councils of Brent and Enfield.

Called the ‘Culturally Integrated Family Approach’ (CIFA), the wide-reaching scheme provides tailored services that recognise differences in cultures and ethnicities to improve the support available to those experiencing domestic abuse.

Barnet’s young residents given a voice in council decisions

Barnet Council yesterday (31 May) launched a bold new strategy to enable children and young people to influence decisions in the council. The participation strategy, called My Say Matters, was unveiled by young people at a special event at Hendon Town Hall.

Barnet’s Healthy Heart Project praised for helping 1,600+ residents from high-risk communities

A Barnet Council-backed project to improve heart health in high-risk communities has received formal recognition for helping over 1,600 residents in a little under two years.

The African Caribbean Culture Society of Barnet presented Barnet’s Healthy Heart Project with a certificate of appreciation for its service to the community. Since May 2022, 1,683 residents from African, Caribbean, or South Asian backgrounds have been helped to better manage their cardiovascular health.

Edgware business given hefty fine over £5,000 for selling vapes again to two 14-year-olds

An Edgware business has been fined over £5,000 for selling vapes to children for the second time.

Fone Us Edgware Ltd was handed the fine by Willesden Magistrates Court on 21 March, 2024, after being caught selling vapes to two 14-year-olds by Barnet Council’s Trading Standards team.

Young people across Barnet elect representatives to champion their views

Four Barnet school pupils have been chosen by young people across the borough to represent their views at the national and local levels.

Thousands of youngsters voted to elect their Members of Youth Parliament and Youth Ambassadors for the 2024 - 2026 term.

Volunteers honoured for outstanding service at 24th Barnet Civic Awards

Volunteers have been honoured for their outstanding service to the local community at the 24th annual Barnet Civic Awards.

The ceremony, which took place at Hendon Town Hall last night (March 20), recognised individuals and organisations for their contributions to fundraising, healthcare support, tackling poverty and other forms of service to improve the quality of life in their local community.
