Barnet Council announces today that the borough’s first LGBTQ+ celebration Pride in the Park will launch later this year. The event at Victoria Park, Finchley, will be held on Sunday 20 August and is being coordinated by a partnership led by Barnet’s LGBTQ+ community group Inkluder CiC. The news comes as the council raises the Rainbow flag above Hendon Town Hall today to mark the start of LGBTQ+ Pride Month.

Members of the Youth Parliament and Barnet’s Youth Ambassadors unveiled plans to promote good mental health and equality as one of a number of initiatives presented to Barnet Council’s Children Education & Safeguarding Committee yesterday (17 November). Barnet Council yesterday (31 May) launched a bold new strategy to enable children and young people to influence decisions in the council. The participation strategy, called My Say Matters, was unveiled by young people at a special event at Hendon Town Hall.

Graduate wins Entrepreneurial Barnet Competition

The winner of the first ever Entrepreneurial Barnet Competition, organised by Middlesex University, Barnet Council and Barnet and Southgate College, was announced last week. Rebecca Manning, Chief Executive of the Community Interest Company Happy to Be, was announced as the competition winner after a grand final pitch event on 8 March.
