Creative Communities
Creative Communities is a new initiative, which delivers a programme of free events, activities and experiences for all ages and specifically for residents of Colindale.
Regular Rhyme Time sessions
Rhyme Time sessions run during term time. Session dates and times from September are listed below.
Please note there will be no Rhyme Time sessions during half term, 13 to 19 February.
Mondays from 9 January to 6 February
- East Finchley library at 10am
- Edgware library at 10am
Tuesdays from 3 January to 7 February
- Chipping Barnet library at 10am
- Hendon library at 10am
- Childs Hill library at 10.15am
- New Barnet library at 10.15am (babies)
- New Barnet library at 11am (toddlers)
Children’s Laureate, Joseph Coelho will be visiting Chipping Barnet library as part of his Library Marathon
Joseph will be joining the library and then performing some poems and readings for under-fives at approximately 9.45am. Please arrive at the earlier time of 9.45am. A short rhyme time session will run after Joseph’s performance.
Wednesdays from 4 January to 8 February
- Burnt Oak library at 10am

- South Friern Library at 10.15am (babies)
- South Friern Library at 11.00am (toddlers)
Thursdays from 5 January to 9 February
- Colindale library at 10am
- North Finchley library at 10am
Fridays from 6 January to 10 February
- Finchley Church End library at 10am
- Golders Green library at 10am
Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Rhymes, Stories and Mark Making
Join us for a traditional library activity of rhymes and stories with a simple mark making activity at Finchley Church End library on Tuesdays and at Colindale library on Wednesdays.
Sessions must be booked via Eventbrite. Booking opens at 7am on the morning of each session.

Baby Bounce and Play
Baby Bounce and Play is a rhyme, story and sensory play session for babies that can't walk yet.
Sessions cost £3.50 payable at the library desk on arrival.
Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Baby Bounce and Play sessions run regularly during term time at Chipping Barnet and Colindale libraries.
Chipping Barnet Library
Tuesdays from 3 January to 7 February, 11:15am to 12:00pm
Colindale Library
Thursdays from 5 January to 9 February, 11:15am to 12:00pm
Play Club
Play Club is an activity session at Chipping Barnet library which aims to provide a play space where families can meet and socialize with one another.
We provide opportunities for children to explore and learn through a range of activities focused on physical play and general wellbeing.
Play Club runs during term time.
Booking is essential. Session dates, times and booking links can be found on our Eventbrite Homepage. Please note booking opens at 7am on the day of the session.
Lego Club
Lego Club is designed for children of all ages and we find it is very popular with children over 3.
