Hendon Coat of Arms

Hendon became a municipal borough with its own mayor in 1932 and included Mill Hill, Burnt Oak and Edgware. This allowed the borough to have its own 'armorial bearings', or coat of arms. The coat of arms has various elements that represent Hendon. The two mythical animals are called supporters. The Griffin on the left-hand side represents the Powis family, who were lords of Hendon Manor.

Nether Street and West Finchley (Finchley N3)

Nether Street was recognised by the mid-14th century as an old street, sometimes called 'Lower Street' in later periods. Essentially an access road to properties and land, the most important of which were Moss Hall (see North Finchley) and Brent Lodge.
Cemetery and crematorium privacy notice

Our cemetery and crematorium service manages Hendon Cemetery and Crematorium. We are a multi-faith site and provide cremation and burial services seven days per week. We also provide post funeral services including memorial plaques and cremated remains memorials. The council is required to provide a funeral if the person is unable to pay for the funeral out of their estate. This is called a public health funeral.
Parking Services - NSL Contract

The London Borough of Barnet entered into a new contract with NSL Ltd on 1 November 2018 to deliver its parking enforcement and related services. Hendon Aerodrome

Local factory owners Everett and Edgecumbe experimented at Colindale with a plane, nicknamed the Grasshopper, between 1908 and 1910. Sadly the plane never got airborne. In 1910 the Daily Mail newspaper staged a flying race to Manchester. Louis Paulhan, a Frenchman, flew from Colindale and succeeded in winning the competition. It was the first flight from Hendon.
