How the service works
If you'd like your garden waste bins emptied, you'll need to:
- sign up and pay for the garden waste service and
- have a green garden waste bin
Frequency of garden waste collections
The service runs for 12 months and we will make around 23 collections over the year.
Sign up before 18 April 2021 and you will receive a full year of collections.
If you sign up part way through the year you'll receive a reduced number of collections.
There will be a yearly 6 week pause to collections (3 fortnightly collections) each year over winter.
Your fortnightly collection will start on a Saturday.
Green garden waste bins
Garden waste will only be collected from a Barnet issued green garden waste bin and will not be accepted in your black refuse or blue recycling bin for collection.
Manage your collection
Your service this year ends on 2 May 2021 and your last collection will either be on Saturday 24 April, or Saturday 1 May depending on your fortnightly collection schedule.
If you've signed up for the 2021 to 2022 service you will receive a blue sticker for your bin.
You will need to remove the yellow sticker on your bin before the start of the new service year and apply the new blue sticker.
Please remove as much of the old yellow sticker as possible. A scrubbing brush and soapy water may help with more stubborn parts of the sticker. Make sure the surface is clean and dry before applying your new blue sticker.
Our collection crews will only empty garden waste bins that have a blue sticker on the lid.
Stickers for green garden waste bins
When you sign up for the service you will get 1 sticker for every green garden waste bin you pay to have collected. The sticker will identify you as having paid for the service.
We will aim to post your sticker to you within 15 working days of you signing up and paying for the service.
Please place your sticker on the centre of your garden waste bin lid so it can be clearly seen.
Your sticker will have your address on it and will be valid until the end of the service year.
