Barnet Libraries annual Literary Festival returns to Finchley Church End Library on the weekend of Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May. Childs Hill and New Barnet libraries will be closed on Thursday 2 May while they operate as Polling stations.

If you’re unsure if you can offer your time for fostering, think about welcoming young people aged 16 or older into your home.   Our package includes allowances, training, ongoing guidance and support. This role is both challenging and rewarding, allowing you to create nurturing environments tailored to each young person’s needs.

Sometimes children aren't able to live at home with their families or with other family members, so we provide care for them through foster carers or adoptive families. For very few children, who can't cope with a family environment, a children's residential home is the best option. We work to ensure that all children achieve their potential in terms of the five outcomes identified within the Every Child Matters document and the Children Act 2004, we want:

Coming into Care

There may be situations where you can no longer live at home with your family. This could be for a number of reasons - illness, a family breakdown or break-up, or parents or carers who are unable to provide you with the right sort of care and protection. Initially, we see if there are friends or relatives who could look after you. If this is not possible or appropriate, then we will find you accommodation and you will become 'looked after' by Barnet Council.
